Skills Bootcamp for Smart Metering

Smart Metering

Summary

ECTA has partnerships with some of the best Smart Meter installation companies in the country, and these employers are actively recruiting new entrants to the industry.

What we do

How we can support your business

The struggle to recruit qualified Dual Fuel Engineers is probably the most difficult it has ever been, forcing businesses to increase salaries and offer additional incentives such as signing bonuses to meet their staffing requirements. However, even with salaries and incentives being higher than they have ever been, companies are still struggling to recruit not just the numbers, but the right quality of engineers. Taking on new entrants might seem counterintuitive, but studies show taking on apprentices or new recruits, delivers motivated, engaged, qualified and above all else, loyal employees. ECTA can provide support throughout the whole process, from engineer recruitment to EUSR registration, and provide options to suit your business need.

DFE funded Skills Bootcamp Level 2 Diploma in Smart Meter Engineering

A 16 week programme leading to the Level 2 Diploma in Smart Meter Engineering.

This includes 6 weeks in-centre training, 2 weeks Power (electrical meters) and 4 weeks Gas. This is followed by 10 weeks in-field mentoring where the learner works alongside one of your existing
engineers to complete an online portfolio of work. Upon successful completion of the mentoring phase, the learner can then be registered for the qualification. This delivers CMA3 and Met 1 equivalence valid for 3 years. Learners will also be EUSR registered for single phase electrics and will be entered onto the gas safe system for you to register them. Please be aware that the Level 2 Diploma as standard does not include single off multi-phase or medium pressure gas. However, ECTA can offer this after the 16 weeks if required. The training is fully funded by the Department for Education for those learners living and working in English postcodes. Funding cannot be used for learners in the devolved nations. It is recommended but not compulsory to offer a training salary for the 16 weeks and to provide accommodation where necessary.
