Become a Domestic Gas Engineer – Course for new entrants to gas

Summary

A career in the gas industry is a fantastic choice in the current climate, offering a wide range of different roles and opportunities for a long term career.

Course details

This Logic Certification Managed Learning Programme is a mixture of classroom based theory and practical training in our state of the art centre, plus an on-site mentored work placement where you will hone your skills.

Who should take this course?

Those wishing to become a Gas Safe registered engineer working in domestic property on Central Heating Boilers, Cookers, Gas Fires & Wall Heaters. Whether you are brand new to gas work, or have been working in a related industry for a while, this course will provide the practical and theory training you need to become a competent gas engineer.

Why should I take this course?

The “Gas Safe Decade Review” has highlighted the ageing workforce in this industry, with half of gas engineers reaching retirement age in the next 10 years. This huge gap forecasted in the workforce will not be met by apprenticeships alone, and the apprenticeship route is not suitable for everyone. Clearly, gas central heating systems are not going to be replaced by a viable alternative any time soon, meaning that a career as a gas engineer looks like being “a job for life”. There are few industries that can claim this in the current climate. This route is the shortest possible approved route to gas qualification. The course is approved under the new Standards of Training in Gas Work (IGE/IP1) which has laid down nationally specific criteria for gas training.

What do I need to take this course?
You don’t need any prior qualifications, although we would expect a reasonable level of Maths and English. We will invite you in for an initial assessment prior to you booking on this course, this will allow us to assess your suitability, and allow us to ensure you fully understand the requirements of the programme. There is no charge for this initial assessment, so please contact us to arrange an appointment if you think that this might be the route for you.
